Long, cold summer...
If you told me we would be working over three weeks this summer I would have
never believed you. Now that the season is over it looks like the heat has
arrived. Expect letters from us in the next few weeks with a summary of the
season along with your average hourly wage after all add pay.

Well here we go again. We had high hopes to be working by this weekend but that
doesn't look like it is going to happen. The wild card is the weather the rest
of this week, but it does look like Monday will be the earliest we will start
and possibly as late as Thursday. Keep checking back! See you soon.

Another good sign-up weekend. Our crew is 95% full at this point and our goal is
to fill the remaining 5% with veterans of our crew. If that describes you and
you want to work this summer let us know right away.
The meeting at the plant was very informative. According to the agronomist we
are looking at a normal 2-week work period - sounds good to me! It's been a cool
growing season so far which means there is a good chance detasseling will not
start until after the 10th of July. Of course, this could change drastically if
we get some heat over the next few weeks. We will begin to post projected start
dates after the 4th of July.

Ryan and I have the big contractor meeting this Wednesday. Hopefully we'll know
where Pioneer is with planting this spring. My guess is right now they are
behind schedule but still ahead of last year. Continue to check back for updates
and important information. We'll be in the field in about two months!

Ryan and I were very pleased with the first round of meetings. We had a great
turnout, we got to catch up with some veterans, and the meetings went like clock
work. Our only concern at this point is too many workers! A good problem to
have! We'd love to hire everyone who walks through the door. The problem is
there isn't enough acres. We've always been committed to getting our workers 90+
hours. Hiring 275+ workers cuts into the total hours. My advice to anyone
looking to work this summer, veteran or rookie, is to get your name to us as
soon as possible. If the attendance at the next meeting is 85 people (with
possibly two
more to go), we may have to resort to signing up those who have previously
contacted us.

Technology is great when it works. Sorry for the dated website page. It went
from old 2008 information to even older 2007 information but it seems to be up
and running now. Well we're only days away from the official kickoff to the 2009
season. Believe me, Ryan is counting the minutes until Saturday. We hope you can
make it to this first round of meetings. We are anticipating a great turnout,
much like last year. Be sure to tell your relatives, friends, and neighbors
about the meeting so you can pocket a little (or lot) extra money this summer.
See you soon!

The start of the 2009 season has started for Ryan and myself. Ryan and I are
meeting next weekend to sketch out possible sign-up dates for this spring. Make
it a priority to attend the first set of meetings. Last year we had over 100
workers signed up in April alone. We are still planning on 2-3 busses out of
Dunkerton, 2-3 busses out of WCF, and a new bus out the Waverly area but seats
can fill fast and we are anticipating another solid year of recruiting.
Expect another postcard in the mail with information on sign-up meetings and you
can always check the website. See you soon.
